Luke 9:23 — “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross daily and follow me.”
As I prepare to take you on this journey with me, I see it only fitting to warn you of the road ahead.
This journey I speak of is the road that leads you closer to Jesus.
I myself will never fully arrive until my Father calls me home. Though this is the case, I will continue stepping closer toward Him with every day of life He gives.
This journey is long.
This journey is hard.
It is also full of joy and delight.
However, I must humbly say that this journey is mine.
It is one you will walk with me — not for me, not as me, but alongside.
The good news in that is this: in walking alongside me, you will see Jesus. You will meet Him right where you are.
You are not just walking with me… you are walking with us — Jesus and I.
And in that, you will begin to see that Jesus has created a path just for you.
Not a mirror of mine, but one that is entirely your own.
He will lead you through it.
Shield you in it.
And keep you on course as you learn to trust in His ways and say “yes” to Him daily.
Now that we’ve gotten the disclaimer out of the way, let’s answer the question I’m sure you’ve been asking:
How do I actually say yes to God daily?
To answer that, I have a question for you first:
Have you died?
If you are a believer, I’m sure you’ve heard this a thousand times over. But it remains one of the most important questions you can ask yourself.
Have I crucified my flesh — the things I love or desire that are sinful and displeasing to God — in exchange for His ways and His desires?
Have I truly repented, turning from my sin, and surrendered my life to Jesus… trusting Him to make me righteous through what He has done?
This is the first step in saying “yes” to Jesus.
Once you have done this, you can move into the second step:
Hearing God’s Voice
John 10:27 — “My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.”
Because how can you say yes to God if you don’t know what He’s asking — or if it’s even Him speaking?
You have to become familiar with His voice.
(We’ll dive deeper into this in the next post.)
But for now, we move into step three:
Saying Yes
Once you have:
- Acknowledged your sin and died to your own desires
- Learned to recognize God’s voice above all others
Then you can begin the daily practice of saying “yes” to Him in all you do.
And you read that correctly — I said practice.
Because saying yes to God isn’t just a word… it’s an action.
But don’t worry.
Over the next few posts, I’m going to walk with you slowly through each of these steps in simple, clear ways.
And please remember this:
We are not here to be perfect.
We are here to surrender all we have to the Lord…
and trust that He will do the rest over time.
We have a long journey ahead, my brothers and sisters.
It is one I am so grateful to share with you.
If there is one thing to take away from this journal, it’s this:
Your path is a process.
Be patient with yourself.
Give your anxieties, your worries, and your fears over to the Lord.
He will guide you.
Proverbs 3:5–6 — “Trust in the Lord with all your heart… and He will make your paths straight.”
And when you’re unsure — just pause.
After you pause, pray.
You’ve got this.
Now… buckle up and enjoy the ride. 🤍
What is one area of your life where God is asking you to say “yes” today?
